Welcome to the Dreamland Resort, you came to the right place to catch up on Area 51 info.

The speculations about Area 51 or some projects there being moved elsewhere were started by a 1997 article in Popular Mechanics magazine. It has since been proven that the article was disinformation, or at best poor research by the author (who among other things failed to even locate the main gate to Area 51).

While it is true that projects get moved out of Area 51 all the time, this is usually the case only after they enter an operational state (although often still in the Black world). One example is the F-117 Stealth Fighter, which was moved to TTR after initial development at Groom.

A simple headcount at the Las Vegas Janet terminal shows you that on any given workday between 1000 and 1500 workers commute to Area 51. This number, and the number of daily flights, has not changed for years.

However, the focus of research at Area 51 seems to have changed. In the past, flight tests of new aircraft were often observed by skywatchers (and mistaken for UFOs). Today the focus seems to be on smaller UAV's, stealth technologies and radar systems. All these tests are less likely to be seen by the public. But extensions, new construction etc. at the base clearly shows that it is in full operation.
