MEDIA ADVISORY: INVITATION TO ATTEND LIVE-FIRE DEMO

NELLIS AIR FORCE BASE, Nev. - The media are invited to attend a live-firepower demonstration April 27 (Friday). Media need to be at Point Bravo on Highway 95 North no later than 11:45 a.m. The demonstration ends 1:30 p.m.

Media wanting to attend should contact public affairs no later than 4 p.m. April 26. Point Bravo is located 20 miles north of Las Vegas across from the state prison. Go to http://www.nellis.af.mil/pa/MAPtoBravo/map.htm for a map.

The demonstration will include more than 10 aircraft, to include the most advanced fighters and bombers in the Air Force. Many of these aircraft will drop live ordnance on a range close to the area media will be located.

The sound of explosions from the last live-fire power demonstration Feb. 2 drew the attention of the Las Vegas community and the local media. This will be an excellent occasion to educate the public on what the Air Force mission is and to help alleviate local concerns.

The Air Force holds four firepower demonstrations yearly. The firepower demonstrations held in support of the Joint Chiefs of Staff CAPSTONE program, a program designed to inform senior military leaders on the fundamentals of joint warfare and how to integrate various elements of national power into the national military strategies. The Air Force firepower demonstration shows how the Air Force supports joint and multinational operations. Attendance at the firepower demonstrations is by invitation only.
