Yes, I believe they also use that general area for training flights out of Nellis. The Virgin River Gorge between Mesquite and St. George seems to be a popular spot.

Bill and I saw the cleanup crew after a crash (A-10?) there in early September last year. We did not stop, but the crash site appeared to be close to the highway, in steep terrain on the east side.
