The signs definitely indicate passing/no passing zones. They match the center line markings exactly.

I would be curious to hear what NDOT has to say about the signs. My best guess is that it is some sort of trial. US-93 would be a perfect candidate. Because of sometimes heavy (and slower) truck and camper traffic and deceiving terrain I have seen many close calls there over the years of people passing where they shouldn't have.

It does snow at higher elevations of Hwy 375, but very rarely and not significantly along US-93 where the signs are also posted.

I don't think there is a big mystery here, other than the question why our tax $$ are spent on a program that judging by our discussion is not very clear to motorists. :-)
