I controlled British Airways and Air France Concorde aircraft as an air traffic controller at JFK Tower during the late 1970's. While the aircraft always operated in the sub-sonic speed regimes as Peter describes, it was still incredibly loud with a long trail of noise complaints. There were so many restrictions regarding runway utilization, that each operation was more like a NASA mission than a routine aircraft takeoff or landing.
