I am not sure if Fred Dunham (long-time E.G. & G security guard) reads this forum or not but he did tell me that he used to open the gate (of the road to the Sheahan family's Groom Mine) every time there was a request by Dan Robert Sheahan or any of the Groom Mine families) to enter their property. He did this for many years. But you are right in saying that the view from the mines was spectacular. Due to the consideration to the Air Force, the Sheahan family respected the request from the Air Force not to photograph the facility from their mines. It seems that there are only a couple of photos that show part of Groom Lake.
