Add to you list of probables that the 117 may have just opened a weapons bay--one becomes somewhat more visible on certain radar frequencies when this happens--this is why they try to minimize the open time.

Don't know about the daylight B2 sorties, but I'm comforted by their accompanyment by the EA-6Bs. The EA-6Bs could easily render local radars ineffective in seeing anything. But, if the craft can be seen by the human eye, then someone can figure out how to shoot at it.

There is an electronic warfare tactic sometimes called electronic stealth. This prevents radars from detecting anything, yet a SHARP radar operator can recognize the technique and utilize his own countermeasures--and on and on this goes!!!
