It seems like the further we get into the space program the more failures we have. Back in the old days of the Mercury, Gemini and Apollo programs everything we sent into space with a lot less complicated and we had far fewer failures. I truly believe with a combination of the people we had working on the programs who are truly dedicated to the cause and the fact that they didn't use of the sophisticated technology. They also had a true focus and mission which was to get man on the moon by the end of the decade.

I really don't think the drive nor dedication to the cause exists in today's space program. Private companies are trying to make money so they obviously cut corners where possible. NASA is also being forced to cut corners is much as possible because of increased government spending on social programs.

The space program will never return to its glory until major changes are made!
