To answer your question, I have been going to Area 51 range almost every year since 2003. Spent most of May 2015 in the area.

Other than switching to GM trucks, and now Ford Raptors, their procedure's and appearance haven't really changed. I know from experience they kind of freak-out if you show up at the border on a quad or dirtbike. They will bring out a second truck, and generally follow you around until you are out of the area, back to Hwy 375.

Only thing I saw different at the border was the razor wire (see my picture in a post below) and they had a long range FLIR unit on a trailer up beside where they park their trucks.
