A new, somewhat temporary looking, radio site showed up along a dirt road near Rachel on public land. It may be related to the upcoming Red Flag, which has a heavy Command, Control and Intelligence presence. The new site is surrounded by concrete barriers with a locked gate. It is powered by a generator. In this photo taken yesterday a work crew can be seen getting it ready for use. It seems to include several semi-omni directional antennas similar to a cell site and a microwave panel pointed in the direction of the Air Force site on the Ragged Ridge or the Cedar Peak site, which is a major communications hub. The tower extends and also features a remote controlled camera and a red marker light on top.
