There also was a jet down near NAS Point Magu (Naval Station Ventura County) yesterday. The jet was a Hawker Hunter from Airborne Tactical Advantage Co. (ATAC), a civilian company which fly's adversary training missions with the U.S. Military. The jet went down in a field on approach to the air base. The pilot did not survive and the jet was a total loss. This is at least the third fatal crash of a ATAC fighter jet over the last two years - another Hunter that went down also near Pt. Magu and a Kfir that crashed near NAS Fallon. The Kfir crash, the pilot simply ran out of gas.
