New here, so don't know what's gone on before , BUT donuts-on-a-rope contrails are real...and often seen in SoCal. I've sen them since the late 1990s, first time over Nevada. Now often seen almost daily over SoCal. Definitely not a standard commercial contrail to be sure, and super high-speed jets HIGH overhead almost daily as if on a schedule on both southeast and northwest headings about sunrise and sunset most days. Most interesting recent sighting was a plane laying down a super-sized contrail to the northwest over LA, which spreads out, then a few minutes later here comes a high-speed speck right down the middle of the contrail, which was obviously meant to hide the much faster plane as it passed over the populated region.
