Ok. I will buy your "strip" comment and in that image those are clouds - it didn't make any sense that they were smoke. i couldn't figure out how they did smoke anyway. what i don't buy is that this wasn't done on purpose. from the other "strips" in the area it is obvious that GE is concentrating on areas where there have been changes - they update pure non-changing areas much less often than areas where thing are more dynamic. given that, why would they pick one of the rare days in the desert when clouds virtually obsure the one changing thing in the area. choosing a day when there were clouds was a CHOICE and not an ACCIDENT. the satellite makes dozens of passes every month that would allow better imagery. GE then they took and let stand for almost TWO years before updating it. It's been over THREE years since they updated Area 51 imagry - also not an ACCIDENT.....
