And no greatguess, I wasn't jesting about those being clouds, because they're obviously clouds. The image is a mosaic, and the adjacent 'strips' were taken when those areas had no cloud cover, hence, no clouds for hundreds of miles. Of course, you're certainly entitled to your own interpretation...
