There are usually about five or six contractor vehicles leaving the base right before the bus, around 3.20pm. Other than that there does not seem to bee too much traffic on GL Rd. At night you occasionally se a vehicle go in oru out, but its probably mostly cammos.
I suspect that the majority of vehicles comes in from the south, via Mercury, the NTS on the Mercury Highway, and Gate 700 into Area 51. The road is paved, in good condition, and well marked. It would take you less than 45 mins. from Mercury to Gate 700.
