The A10's were based all over Europe including the UK it was a cold war product intended to knock out Soviet Tanks across the East European borders. I saw them too around that time flying very low sometimes in formation with other aircraft such as Prowlers and Attack Helicopters, I presumed these were training exercises in the months building up to the War.
