There was talk about a "star shaped" aircraft being spotted by other crews flying in Desert Storm at very high altitude back around that time. Interestingly, in a fairly recent post here (last few months) there was a link to a Boeing video in which a female engineer was wearing a necklace with a pendant that looked like a stylized star. Looking at that necklace pendant in a rotated aspect the "star" looks kind of like an aircraft. A description of that "aircraft" could be a long-nosed, long wing F-15, but that's just my interpretation. But given that the US evolved from the F-104, would some sort of high altitude observation/target designation aircraft based on an F-15 be too far-fetched?
