This is a bit misleading. The 16 meg on board is 8 meg of rom and 8 meg of flash. My Garmin emap has 16 meg of flash, but you have to buy the flash memory as a module. If you want to spend the bucks, you can get 32 meg of flash. The flash rom contains the maps YOU want, so I consider the flash memory to be the critical item

Best is a relative term. The emap has a nicer display, but is not waterproof. So which is best. Well, if you want it to be waterproof and don't want to use an aquapak, then the Magellan is better. If you want a clearer display, then get the emap.

I would suggest going to sci.geo.satellite-nav on usenet to learn more about GPSs.
