Step back, wayyyyy back to Edwards of the past. This video is a 1956 documentary of testing at Edwards. These folks were way ahead of their time on may of the projects you will see. It appears no idea was discarded just because it seemed "odd" or "unusual". The video references a site airailimages.com which i have not had a chance to explore yet so there may be some additional gems there.
Did you know that the first B-52 to land at edwards had a landing accident? you can see that on this video.
