Here are a number of sites with either information regarding the SA-6 system or pictures of actual Long Track units. At this point, more information seems to be pointing to it's working with the SA-6. Apparently, these things are more common than I thought. It just seems that USAF has an actual working model on the range outside of Rachel.
1)http://meltingpot.fortunecity.com/chad/95/sa-6.html
-a decent page on the SA-6 and how it works.
2)www.milweb.co.uk/go/fleming/gallery.htm
-an armored vehicle broker/restorer: pic of the Long
Track they worked on.
3)www.calguard.ca.gov/wqrxa0/default.asp?filetype=at1099photos-8
-a California Army Guard unit equipped with Hueys -
pics of an exercise they participated in 10/99 @
Fallon NAS, and they Long Track on display there
4)www.hcs5.navy.mil/threats/country_index.htm
-a Naval Air Reserve unit (HH-60's), combat rescue:
they say they participate in alot of Red Flag stuff,
and the background to their page is the Nellis Range
chart,specifically the Rachel area
5)www.nellis.af.mil/UNITS/547IS/TTF/TTF.htm
-the holy grail - the 547th Intelligence Squadron, and
a virtual tour of their Threat Training Facility. They
have a Long Track, and look at all the other stuff!
Cool!
At any rate, as soon as we get a better photo, we can probably positively identify that unit inside the North Gate as a Long Track, although I don't know what's sitting behind it, perhaps another one or a truck. My recollection is that the other sites up there are buildings, but if we got pictures of other radar units, it's possible to identify them also.
