On January 11th I posted some info that I got by talking to the person (Bob Moyer) that was selling his land on the north end of the fence line at Nellis. He told me that Nellis was in the process of trying to aquire the remaining land that ran up to the mountain. He said that they wanted to enlarge the existing ordinance storage that was already in place and needed additional land as a safe zone for takeoffs. He told me that any aircraft that carried live ordinance took off to the north as their were no residences in their flight path.I asked him about the prevailing winds that seem to dictate takeoffs to the south the majority of the time, and he said that with the power that is available in most of the aircraft it doesnt make any difference, they just stand on it.The budget memo could be funds for aquireing this land as it mentioned live ordinance departure areas.Ill keep my fingers crossed.
