i wouldn't put too much weight on the height of the hangar when trying to decide what will go in it. when we built the designed and built the hangar at edwards south base for the b2 we built it with 90 foot tall doors knowing that it would dwarf the bomber. we did that so the hangar would be able to be used for other large aircraft in the future once the b2 was done with it. it wasn't a whole lot more expensive to build it that way rather than just big enough to fit the b2. the air force, and i am sure the dod, looks at long term use while in the design phase and tries to get the most "bang for it's buck" long term even if it means spending a little more initially. at edwards south base we ended up using the hangar for the airborne laser aircraft (747-400 freighter), b52's, b-1b's, and a kc-135 (looked like an rc-135) all which had much taller profiles than the b2.
