Well, when I was active duty, I was at Edwards. We ran nearly every day, at lunch (noon-ish). There were many more civilians than there were us military, so we didn't formation run. But, you just get used to the heat. And, "it's a dry heat" is true. My time at Maxwell was much more difficult as far as physical activity is concerned.

Further, by no means would anyone accuse me of being "hardcore".

The tracks at Nellis, Creech, and Groom are defintely running tracks. I have that on good authority. The Air Force says that physical fitness should be done during duty hours as part of the normal work day. In practice, few are able to accomplish that...having to "make up" the time they take out of the day to workout. I sacrificed lunch at Edwards to do that...so did several others.

Fitness is a fundamental requirement for today's armed forces, and I know the Air Force takes that very, very seriously.
