Mike, There were several crashes at Groom Lake. You mentioned the F-117. We lost 2 A-12s on the lakebed itself (Bill Parks and Mele Vojvodich) and Walt Ray had to eject out of an A-12 a few miles out. He was killed. Lt. Col. Jim Simons crashed on the lakebed in an F-101 while flying chase for the A-12. He was also killed. We lost both Have Blue planes in the region of the lake. That's just some that come to mind without burning brain cells. Pete has a better count as he wrote a book about the various crashes. We lost 2 U-2 pilots at the lake I believe. CIA lost 4 all total (killed). Off hand, I'm not sure how any U-2s crashed without killing the pilot. Pete may something to add to this.
