Yes, Hill AFB is a Depot Level maintenance facility for F-16's and has been for many other aircraft over the years. But I believe there has always been at least one front line squadron of F-16's stationed at Hill going back to the first year through today (i.e. HL tailcode). HL F-16's have participated in all of our conflicts over the last three decades.

I also wonder who will be the first to get the F-35's? Hill or Shaw? Homestead has a lot of unused tarmac space today. I'm sure there will be some shifting around amongst the big bases with the current aircraft arrangements to accomodate the F-35's.
