Unfortunately the self destruct your thinking of is a product of Hollywood movies. The only self destruct I know of for sure is in test missiles, rockets and QF drones and all it does is cut up the airframe so it comes straight down over the desert or ocean test centers to avoid civilian pop. areas. I would imagine a fully "self destruct" aircraft would be such a major hazard in everyday operations it would have to be treated like an ordnance loaded aircraft at all times which means special storage, taxiing, etc. etc. Could you imagine if you were changing out the FLIR assembly or something and you set the thing off?
