'We don't make the weapons system, we make the weapons system better...'

OOOPS! Sorry 3M (*Grin*)

Seriously... Weapons systems are an INTEGRATED weapon, meaning that (to be fully effective), the weapon need many companies working in conjunction. That's the miracle of 'black' work - that NONE of the half-dozen companies 'spill the beans'. Look at the F-117 - seven different companies supplying custom components (who HAD to know the design specs..) and five non-custom contractors supplying standard equipment, and none said anything at al...

As for the 'Jarhead' vs. 'Squid' dept...

On the basic level, the Marines (Like the British 'Royal Marines', from which they are derived), are a sub-section of the Navy - doing the work trhat the Army would do, if they could. The Marines are there first, and out last - but the Navy delivers 'em. They are both integral parts of a Corps that uses only battle-proven equipment (M-14's and M-60A's when the army was M-16's and M1A1 ready..), and battle proven techniques... (NEVER, EVER leave a Marine behind..). The Marines exist, as a small, often isolated force, becuase of one ideal - they arem without a doubt, 'Always faithful.'

'...If the Army and the Navy, should gaze on Heaven's scene... they will find the streets are guarded by, United States Marines...)

I appologize to all the brave Navy, Army and Air Force personnel who might read this - but any group who might sacrifice themselves and their comrades in the ideal for which they swore - as did you all - 'To protect and defend the Constitution of the United States of America, from all enemies, foriegn and domestic...' is equivalent to those who were willing to give their 'lives, fortunes, and sacred honor' to preserve the integrety of teh United States. They deserve respect...

Semper Fidelis!
