it did look odd. it was a nice smooth arc to the ground. perhaps the pilot had become incapacitated (medical, bird strike, etc); i haven't heard if he made any radio calls during the incident. if he were incapacitated that would explain why he didn't punch out before the aircraft impacted the ground.
