Tonopah Auxiliary Air Field No. 5, or Mellan AAF #5 if you prefer. Here is a link to the little known airfields that has some good information. I attached, 1 thru 5 because you may be interested in the others so you'll have to scroll down a touch.

I found No. 1 and No. 2 quite interesting upon first glance as if you bisect the base of the triangle with the apex, one points to Area 51 and the other to Delamar Dry Lake which was and used as an Emergency Landing Strip. A X-15 once landed there! I know think this is just a coincidence as both were cut in desert during WWII.

I'm sure Peter "the walking encyclopedia" Merlin has much more information and hope he will share.
