Hi Thud Man, No one knows either in the Astro or Met professions why recently these are seen so far south and also the frequency at which we see them. Some suggest it the exhaust from the Shuttle launches, rocket exhaust makes sense however there are not enough launches to create this amount of cloud. Really my point is there is something else operating on the edge of space that is creating them.
