Scorpions are most active at night, and while they're not at all aggressive toward people, if you happen to come in contact with one while sleeping in the open, you'll likely get stung. Not medically significant, but it will hurt like hell for a while.

Also, don't forget to shake out your shoes and check any items of clothing that have been on the ground before putting them on in the morning. Those are favorite hiding places for them.
