Come to think of it, I've only been to Nellis for the landings. There is a spot south of the base to watch take-offs, but I've never done that myself. You can drive down the road to get under the planes, but it is harder to get tail numbers that way. You can always get the tail number by the side of the road in the afternoon because the light is behind you. I will admit it is fun to be under the flight path when the B52s land, mostly because the sound is like a shock wave. But the view is better by the road.
