I don't know about this particular mission, but Basecamp has been used to prepare teams for similar missions before. Which is one of the reasons why I quit updating the Basecamp page years ago. But again, I have no evidence whatsoever that Basecamp was used in this case. The NTTR would be a perfect place for a mockup, though, as far as climate, terrain and remote-ness.
