No, I believe we were on Reveille on 4 September 1999. No sighting occurred there. I and Navigator left shortly thereafter. The Bat then met up with some European colleagues and climbed Tikaboo. Speaking from atop Reveille, I can say that the readiness for and expectation of seeing anything black was fairly low. Of course, R-Peak is almost twice the distance from Groom. However, it is more likely to fall within the flight path, one would think. Anyway, I know the Bat as at times being, well, somewhat batty, but in no way dishonest. I guess they were just caught with their pants down. It was funny, beacuse we had a laugh during the R-Peak expedition about having them fly by in the mothership and stop (hover) and wave and being too shocked or astonished to follow through on the documentation technicality. They were able to record radio transmissions that morning. Prior to the sighting one transmission referred to a "fastmover now departing runway 3-2." Of course "fastmover" can be a generic term, but generic or not, the Bat believes that it referred to whatever it was he saw.
