I knew about the iron ferrites, but not the ceramics. I wasn't aware they had progressed to ceramics as far back as 1964! Perhaps in later upgrades of the Habu fleet in the 70's or 80's they used ceramics too.

Certainly the F-117 used ceramic based paints, but I believe the current upgrade program is changing this to a rubber-based compound similar to that used on the B-2.

As for some aerodynamic enhancements contributing the reduction of RCS...it stands to reason that something designed to be aerodynamically smooth and efficient (from the outset) would also result in a reduction of radar returns, although I doubt this applies to the longitudinal corrigations on the underside of the SR-71 wing. I would imagine these would increase relflections of radiation, especially from side on.

Perhaps 'Tom' can elaborate on this if he is around?
