I use a Celestron C-5 spotting scope on a sturdy tripod. You can remove the end that holds the eye piece and replace it with a camera adapter. I am currently using an old Canon D-60 digital SLR, but am looking to upgrade to a newer model. Most of the panoramas on this site were shot with that setup.

At that magnification, camera shake is a big issue. A sturdy tripod (some of us use sand bags) helps. You will need a remote shutter release, and a camera that has a mirror lock-up feature. Movement of the mirror alone causes enough vibrations to be visible in the photo.
