One Buran was built, operational, and flew one space mission under remote control. The program was shut down do to costs. I am sure their were technical problems that also contributed. I recall being told at the time that the Buran was just a U.S. space shuttle only a little bit larger to compensate for tolerances. In regards to Russia and China building their own versions of the X-37B or copying it, who knows the real truth?
