So why would they be flying a non-operational plane like this? If we look at other examples of aircraft being used past their expiration date, it's typically for NASA or for AF testing but always due to the plane's unique abilities. It's much easier to use other test platforms that are still supported and in-use, so what's so special about the F-117? In light of current stealth technology, this aircraft is pretty dated and has limited flight characteristics. I can't figure it out. Maybe they will paint them white with a red stripe down the side?
