At 15c the Speed of Sound in Earth's atmosphere is 761MPH or 1116ft/s so at Mach 5 that is 5580ft/s.

Conventional PDE's knock out 250 Pulses per second, I suspect a Hypersonic Plane would produce a lot more than that!

But even at 250 Pulse Detonations per second and based on the distance travelled per second these occur every 22ft, given the height of these contrails these "Doughnuts" (which are perceived to be caused by a detonation pulse) in these pictures and given the height of the Contrails are well over 22 ft apart.

The Wake/Sonic Boom created travelling at Mach 5 at 90,000ft + as well as the extemly rapid detonations IMHO would leave a standard/normal contrail.

Contrails are nothing more than Man made clouds that transform according to Atmospheric conditions straight away after they are created.
