During the 1980s and 1990s, I used to save every article I could find about the stealth fighter. The Department of Defense released a single, fuzzy photo on November 10, 1988. The first published photo taken by a civilian appeared in early October 1989 in various publications. It showed an F-117A banking away. The December 4, 1989, issue of Aviation Week & Space technology Magazine had a photo on the cover that showed an F-117A flying with a T-38 chase plane on approach to TTR. On page 39 there was another photo taken from almost directly beneath the two aircraft. Two more photos appeared on page 43. All were taken on November 1, 1989.
