I made a trip to Dugway in 2008. I was stopped for only a couple of minutes to take pictures of signs, the guardshack, etc. before a security vehicle came ripping up to me, and security asked why I was there, what I was doing, telling me that it was a restricted area, etc. Wasn't even close to the gate, was at the first set of signs shown in the first picture below.

They seemed very paranoid, but I doubt they get anything like the amount of sightseeing traffic that the Area 51 cammo dudes see.
