14 F35's have been allocated which is a bit pathetic really when the Carrier could take twice that amount. Perhaps a Carrier launched UCAV will make up the numbers with the F35 being the brains of the operation. The trouble is you cannot predict what conflicts will be about in 10 years from now so it is all toe in the water for now.

BAE has invested heavily in the F35, because of that we have to buy some and also build a Carrier, if we don't the losses would be great. So damned if you do, damned if you don't.

If Lockheed are migrating parts from other Aircraft to solve problems why not use stuff from the F22? These planes are cousins, speed up the roll out and start cutting costs.
