Nighthawks & Goatsuckers

As you know, the F-117's nickname is "Nighthawk". A nickname for the old 4450th Tac Group's Q-Unit was "The Goatsuckers".

I never realized the connection until reading a recent Wikipedia article on the actual "Nighthawk" bird, which is a real, nocturnal bird of prey, but not actually a hawk. Rather it is a part of the nightjar family, who are often referred to colloquially as "goatsuckers" under the mistaken impression that they suck milk from goats. Fun stuff. Somebody at the 4450th must have had an interest in ornithology. ;)
