I've recently heard that you can actually fly closer legally to Area 51 than you can view to from the ground. I mean fly using a light aircraft for example. I know it's not going to be much closer than from Tikaboo Peak, but i'm sure you'd get a better view.
I once saw a programme on TV here in the UK where a journalist and a pilot hired a light plane for a closer look at the base, only to discover a short while later that they were being buzzed by a pair of
F-15C'S scrambled from Nellis. They got the idea and landed quickly. They must have obviously gone into the restricted airspace.

Does anyone know how close you can actualy get?
