I visited at least one other facility, totally unrelated to the program I was read-in on, that had permanently mounted red beacons that were about 12" in diameter. They'd flip one switch and every office and every desk could see the lights. It was distracting at first, but you got used to it after a bit. I had a meeting there...

Of course, all that was 20+ years ago. So, things may have changed since.
