Andre, with all due respect, I'm not sure where you are going with your response to my simple post here. In addition, my post was not meant to be a critique on 60 Mintues or any other media outlet. It was only mentioned as one source of the information that was available at the time. The 60 Minutes segment was in addition to many other news reports and magazine articles that appeared from many credible sources at the time.

Indeed, I just now came across a blip of information that does indicate that a decision was made to terminate the entire USAF Aggressor program in 1990.

"... However, in 1990, the decision was made to terminate the entire USAF aggressor program. The 26th AS was disbanded on 21 Feb 1990 before it could receive its new F-16's"

This is in context to the structural failures the Aggressor F-5's were having as they were coming to the end of their useful life.

OldThudMan please take note as I 100% agree with your previous post on the competitive nature of our military pilots! I believe the problems the Aggressor pilots were experiencing at the time were simply frustration in that the F-5's they were flying simply could not keep up with the next generation aircraft that the opposing pilots were flying, no more and no less.
