The 427th Special Ops Sqdn seems to be equipped entirely with STOL a/c. Besides the two models in Gary's photos, they have C212-200 and C212-300 Aviocar a/c which are also STOL. Note that all of these A/C are painted white and have few markings - mil serial number and US flag on vertical stabilizer.

A quote - "At least four Series 300s are used by the USAF's 427th SOS for undisclosed missions, two operating in 1992 from Incirlik, Turkey, possibly into northern Iraq."
Most other Spec Ops Sqdns are equipped with C-130's and choppers...

The 427th is stationed at Pope AFB, reports directly to the AFSOC.

Whatever they are doing, I'm glad I am on their side...
