You're thinking of the "Goblin" by McDonnell (XF-85) was a tiny fighter was supposed to hook onto a B-36 Bomber....Test flights with a prototype resulted handling problems from turbulence around the mother ship (EB-29 was used)........As you said there were also attempts to hook fighters on to a Dirigible (IIRC).....
The current stealth blimp (LockheedMartin) doesn't look long enough to land on, "but in the future"...????? Who knows.......Especially with the Harrier/F-35B (Vertical landing version)jump jets..
I you recall, Star Trek's Enterprise (and ilk) had a landing "bay(s?)".....Could a Blimp/Dirigible have the same..??????????????
We will see!
