Since 9/11 Nellis is not anywhere near as forthcoming with advance information on Red Flag, such as scheduled times etc. But they would not deny that an exercise took place. My first thought when I read your account was: players transitioning to the Maple Flag area. But they would be high up, and not operate in the way you describe. I am afraid unless more information surfaces it is going to be another mystery... :-)
