I am planning a Tikaboo hike-- all the way from central Arkansas-- in early July. I have a couple of questions and I would really appreciate any input the people on this board can offer. -When I rent a car in Las Vegas, will a mid-size SUV (Ford Escape, etc.) be sufficient to reach the trailhead, or should I consider the 4x4 Wrangler at Dreamcar? -I own a Nikon SLR D3000 camera and will have a 1000mm lens attached. While I understand this won't get me the best photos of the base, I hope I can capture some decent pictures. What are your thoughts on this? I am asking on this site because trip reports concerning the road to Tikaboo are very conflicting, and there is little information about what kind of lens is required to at least get a decent picture (in which you can see SOME detail). Thanks again for any information you can offer.
